All-Candidates Meeting – Code of Conduct
To ensure a respectful and productive conversation this evening, we ask all attendees to follow this simple code of conduct:
Respect all speakers and fellow attendees – even if you disagree.
No shouting, heckling, or interrupting.
Applause is welcome, but please keep it brief to allow for all voices to be heard.
No signs, banners, or disruptive materials.
Keep phones on silent and step outside for calls or conversations.
We reserve the right to ask anyone who disrupts the event to leave.
At the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce, we strive to ensure our events present a balanced perspective by featuring representatives from parties that have a broader presence in the current political landscape. To participate, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
a) Represent a registered party that had at least one member elected, under that party’s banner, in the previous election or a by-election since.
b) Represent a registered party that is polling province-wide at a minimum of 4%.
c) Represent a registered party running candidates in at least 50% of the ridings
These criteria are guided in part by the standards set in 2021 by Canada’s Commission on Leaders’ Debates, which aims to create fair and balanced engagements in such forums.
